Deputy Chief Jennifer Whittet began her career with the Daytona Beach Police Department in October 2001.  Prior to joining the Police Department she worked for Vilas County Sheriff’s Department in Wisconsin as a Deputy for 3 ½ years.

During her 19-year tenure, Deputy Chief Whittet has worked in various operational and administrative capacities, including the Patrol Division, Special Investigation Unit, Florida Department of Law Enforcement Task Force, Crisis Intervention Team and the office of Professional Standards.

Deputy Chief Whittet has been recognized with several awards throughout her career, including Medal of Valor, Chief’s Awards and commendations.

In November 2015, Deputy Chief Whittet was promoted to Captain were she served in patrol and for the last 3 ½ years overseeing the criminal investigation division.

Deputy Chief Whittet holds Master’s degrees in Criminal Justice from Columbia College.  She is also a graduate of PERF’s Senior Management Institute for Police, the Southern Police Institute (SPI) and the FBI Florida Executive Development Seminar.

She holds memberships in the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF).

Deputy Chief Whittet is happily married to her husband, Jim and has a son.
