A 75-year-old Ormond By The Sea woman passes away from injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Clyde Morris Boulevard late last week.
Lynnette Sue Daniels died at Halifax Health Medical Center (HHMC) in Daytona Beach a few days after arriving as a trauma alert in the aftermath of last Friday’s incident (November 13, 2020).
Members of the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) responded to the 1600 block of North Clyde Morris Boulevard (north of LPGA Boulevard) soon after emergency dispatchers received a call at 4:08 p.m. stating that two vehicles had crashed into one another.
DBPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit believes Daniels was behind the wheel of a red 2014 Jeep Compass when the vehicle was T-boned on the driver’s side by the front of a red 2007 Ford Explorer Sport. Both vehicles came to a final stop in the grass median.
Detectives think Daniels left the parking lot of the Circle K/Dunkin’ Donuts store (1900 LPGA Boulevard) and tried to cut across the southbound lanes to turn north on Clyde Morris when her Jeep was struck by the Ford as it traveled south on Clyde Morris in the left lane.
Paramedics transported Daniels from the scene to HHMC.
The driver of the Ford – a 58-year-old Daytona Beach woman – complained of soreness and airbag burns following the accident. She did not report any other injuries.
No other people were involved in this incident.
Charges are not pending at this time.
