[ARCHIVED] Middle-income households now eligible for assistance

The city has received additional funding to expand its rental assistance program for income-eligible residents who are adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The city has received an additional $500,000 in Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) as part of the federal Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). These funds will be able to aid middle and low-income households who have experienced a COVID-19 related hardship beginning Monday, Nov. 16. Assistance is provided on a first-complete application and first qualified/eligible basis and is for rental housing costs for November and  December. Applicants do not have to be in a delinquent status. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 18 contingent on funds available.

The applicant’s annual household income must be at or below the Area Median Income Level (chart below). Household is defined as the family occupying a specific residence.

Assistance includes rental payments, with a three-month maximum per household. Assistance is capped at $1,500 per month and $4,500 total per household. Payments will be made to landlords or rental property management companies. The assistance does not have to be repaid.
