Boaters and anglers can enjoy a new access ramp and repaired fishing pier at the city-owned Bethune Point Park, which is off South Beach Street along the Halifax River. Work to reconstruct the hurricane damaged floating docks, including access boardwalks and gangways, is substantially complete and have been reopened for the public’s use. The fishing pier that was damaged during Hurricane Irma was also repaired last year and is open.
Bethune Point Park is open daily from dawn to dusk. The restrooms at the park have reopened; however, the picnic tables under the pavilion and skateboard park remain closed. Due to COVID-19, the city has suspended facility rentals until further notice.
The park offers plenty of trailer parking. Those headed south down the intracoastal waterway can quickly get up to speed since the park is near the southern limit of the no-wake zone.
