The city’s popular summer camp program will begin Monday, June 8, and continue through Friday, Aug. 7, with new safety protocols in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The nine-week program is for children ages 5 to 16 years old, and will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Breakfast and lunch, sports, crafts and games are provided at the summer camp. Due to COVID-19, camp participation will be reduced to 50% occupancy, and there are no field trips planned for participants.
There are four sites in Daytona Beach for the summer camps:
- Midtown Community Center, 925 George Engram Blvd.
- Sunnyland Park, 825 Washington St.
- YSG Community Center, 1000 Vine St.
- Ortona Playground, 1206 N. Halifax Ave.
Registration for the summer camp will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, at the four camp locations. Appointments are not required to register youth for the summer camp, and registration is in-person ONLY at the four camp locations (no registration at City Hall or online). Registration for a summer camp spot is on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $270 per child. The summer camp registration fee has been waived for this year. A weekly payment plan of $30 per week is available.
