A walk-up, no-appointment-required, free COVID-19 testing site will open in the heart of Daytona Beach at 9 a.m. Friday, May 15, at the Midtown Cultural and Educational Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd. The site will be open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while supplies last, Tuesday through Sunday.

The free swab testing for the coronavirus will be available for people over 18 years old, regardless of symptoms. A photo ID is required; however, city residency is not a requirement to be tested.

A prescription is not needed to get a test. The test will be a nasal swab, and will be available for 200 people per day. Once samples are collected, they will be sent to a commercial laboratory for testing. Results will be provided as soon as they are available, usually within seven days.

The testing site was created through a partnership between the City of Daytona Beach, the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the Florida Department of Health and the Florida National Guard.
