[ARCHIVED] New procedures for City Commission meetings

2020 April 13_WEB_Comm Mtg

The next meeting date of the Daytona Beach City Commission is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 20.

During this time of extraordinary circumstances, the city has new procedures to allow remote and in-personal public participation.

  • Members of the public who want to comment on an agenda item or items can complete this form by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 19. Forms will be provided to the commission prior to the meeting.
  • Any online comments submitted after 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, but before the conclusion of public meeting, will be provided to commissioners at the end of the meeting.
  • If you have any issues with the virtual public participation form, please contact City Clerk Letitia LaMagna at comments@codb.us or (386) 671-8023 to leave a message and your call will be returned.

Although members of the public will not be allowed inside Commission Chambers during the meeting, they will have access to the lobby in City Hall, which on the second floor, just outside of the Commission Chambers. The lobby will have a lectern and microphone for public comment, and an audio/video feed to the Commission Chambers. Forms will be provided for persons to fill out who wish to make public comment. Persons may enter the lobby to speak on an item before the Commission at the appropriate times, when called upon, subject to such time limitations as may be imposed by the public body. The lobby will also have a limited defined area, with social distancing, for persons waiting to make public comment. In addition, the exterior entryway to City Hall will be equipped with a loudspeaker for persons waiting for permission to enter to make public comment due to space limitations in the lobby. Persons may also monitor public meetings from their iPhone, iPad or other electronic device at https://www.codb.us/618/DBTV, and enter City Hall for public comment at appropriate times, when called upon.

Persons who have finished speaking or are not intending to speak on a matter coming before the Commission will not be permitted to remain in City Hall. All persons must comply with social distancing requirements while at City Hall, including remaining at least six feet apart. Use of facial masks is encouraged to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The City of Daytona Beach will continue its typical practice of livestreaming City Commission meetings online at www.codb.us, which is accessible through a desktop computer, tablet or smartphone. Archived video of meetings can also be found on the city’s website and may be streamed on demand the following day after the meeting has concluded. Meetings are broadcast live on Spectrum cable channel 490.
