The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) is investigating a traffic accident that ended with the death of a 37-year-old man.
First responders were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Nova Road (near Beville Road) after a 911 call was placed around 8:30 p.m. last night (December 19).
Members of DBPD’s Traffic Homicide Investigator Unit showed up on scene soon after paramedics determined that the victim passed away at the scene.
A blue 2007 Chrysler Pacifica driven by a 52-year-old man was heading north on Nova in the left lane when the front passenger side struck the 37-year-old man as he was on foot in the northbound travel lanes.
Detectives believe the 37-year-old man was attempting to cross the road heading west at the time he was struck by the Pacifica.
The impact sent the 37-year-old man into the southbound travel lanes of Nova, where he was struck by a white 1997 Ford F-350 driven by a 45-year-old man. The Ford was heading south in the left lane at the time.
The victim’s identity is being withheld until his next of kin has been formally notified.
No injuries were reported to either driver or the three passengers inside the Ford. There were no passengers in the Chrysler.
Both vehicles were driven away from the scene by their respective drivers.
Charges are not pending at this time.
