The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) is seeking the public’s help to find the man who stabbed a Burger King employee with a knife, leaving her with numerous cuts on her face and left arm.
An emergency call sent officers to the restaurant at 825 North Nova Road around 4:20 yesterday afternoon (December 8). Detectives responded to the scene soon after that and the following was discovered.
The victim was working the front counter area when the suspect – a light-skinned black male wearing black pants and a black hoodie – approached the register.
As he was placing an order, the suspect suddenly reached over the counter with his left hand, grabbed the employee and started attacking her with a knife in his right hand. The suspect appeared to have kept the knife hidden until that point.
The suspect slashed around the victim’s head area numerous times before letting go of her and running out of the restaurant, leaving her bleeding and sitting on the floor behind the counter.
Paramedics responded to the restaurant and took the victim to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries are not considered life threatening.
Investigators have since uncovered video footage from the restaurant that shows the attack as well as more video footage from a nearby gas station that shows the suspect fleeing the scene alongside another man.
A small portion of the restaurant video footage is available on our social media pages. We will not be releasing any other video footage at this time, as the case is still active and ongoing.
Still photos of the suspect are also available on our social media accounts.
The suspect was last seen on foot running northbound from the restaurant before turning east onto Brentwood Drive.
The motive for the attack is not clear at the moment.
