The Daytona Beach Police Department is currently working an officer-involved shooting at 845 Hollywood Street that ended with the death of one man.
Officers responded to the scene around 8:45 this morning (December 2) after emergency dispatchers received a 911 call regarding a person shot at this location.
Once those officers arrived, they discovered that a man had already went to Halifax Health Medical Center (HHMC) with a gunshot wound in his neck. At last report, he is in stable condition.
Preliminary information indicates that man was shot by another man following a disturbance between residents in that area. The shooter was discovered by responding officers soon after arriving at the scene.
The suspect attempted to flee on foot and officers gave chase.
During that chase, the suspect – who was armed with a gun – fired multiple rounds at those officers. Two of the officers returned fire and the suspect was struck with multiple rounds on the 800 block of Wildwood Street.
The suspect died from his injuries soon after arrival at HHMC.
Neither officer involved in the shooting was injured. Both are now on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol in these kinds of situations.
The incident report is not available at this time.
The names of those involved will be released once all identities have been confirmed.
