On Sunday, November 24, 2019 at approximately 8:10 p.m., Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) officers were dispatched to the 7-Eleven in reference to an armed robbery to the business.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted the employees who stated that the suspect entered the business and waited at the counter as the clerk at the register was finishing a transaction. Once that customer exited the business, the suspect approached the counter, brandish and pointed at snub nose revolver at the clerk and motioned toward the register.
The clerk asked the suspect if he wanted the money and he nodded his head yes. The clerk gave the suspect the currency. The suspect then pointed the gun at the safe and another register. The other clerk provided the suspect money from the other register as they didn’t have access to the safe.
The suspect never spoke clearly, only mumbled demands. After receiving the currency, the suspect exited the business in a southeastward direction on foot to an unknown location southbound on Palmetto Avenue. The clerks pushed the panic buttons and called 9-1-1.
A K-9 was deployed and lost the track southbound from the business. No one was injured during the incident. The suspect took less than $50.00 from the business. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweater with a green University of South Florida bulls logo on the front and black pants.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DBPD’s Criminal Investigation Division Detective Dave Dinardi at (386) 671-5219.
