On Sunday, November 24, 2019 at approximately 2206 hours, DBPD officers were dispatched to 416 Margie Lane in reference to a person shot. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim who was laying in the driveway of his residence, alert and conscious. The victim was suffering from two gunshot wounds (right ankle and rear left thigh area).
The victim stated that he arrived home, pulled into the driveway and parked his vehicle. Upon exiting his vehicle, he was approached by an unknown black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue pants. The unknown male told the victim to give him the money. The victim refused, stating “no,” and turned to walk away into his residence when the unknown male pulled out a firearm and shot the victim twice from behind. The unknown male then fled on foot, southbound from the scene to an unknown location. A K-9 was deployed with negative results. The victim doesn’t know if any property was taken.
The victim was transported to Halifax Hospital for treatment, where he remained. The victim cannot identify the male and doesn’t recognize him. No video or photographs are available. Two .45 caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene (roadway/driveway).
On Sunday, November 24, 2019, while recovering at Halifax Hospital, the victim succumbed to his wounds.
