A 24-year-old Daytona Beach man ends up in handcuffs after he was caught on video spray-painting graffiti on a retention wall at the Daytona Beach Boardwalk.
Devin William Bennett (pictured) was arrested last night (November 4, 2019) at his residence by the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD). He has since left Volusia County Jail after he was booked for misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Detectives believe Bennett has been spray-painting graffiti throughout the city for the past several years. At least three other incidents have been documented by DBPD. The victims in those cases refused to press charges.
Hard evidence never surfaced, however, until officers ran across one of his “signature tags” on a wall near the intersection of Auditorium Boulevard and North Ocean Avenue over the summer.
A city-owned security camera at the Boardwalk caught the act around 3:30 in the morning on July 9, 2019. Bennett’s identity was not confirmed until soon after the video was posted on DBPD’s social media pages on November 4, 2019. See the arrest report for more details.
Detectives managed to match the graffiti found on the wall with an image on Bennett’s Instagram page (posted below).
