Original Release (August 25, 2019):
Officers responded to the residence at 212 South Keech Street around 8:25 p.m. Saturday night (August 24th) after emergency dispatchers received a 911 call.
The first officers who arrived at the scene were directed by bystanders to a bedroom inside the home where they discovered the victim – a 10-year-old boy – shot and lying on the floor near a bed.
Paramedics took the boy to Halifax Health Medical Center for initial treatment. He’s since been transferred to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando.
As of this afternoon (August 25), the victim remains in critical and unstable condition.
Investigators arrived at the home soon after the initial 911 call to process for evidence. The weapon believed to be involved in the shooting was recovered in the home.
No other details are available at this point since the investigation is active and ongoing.
