The month of May is National Stroke Awareness Month. Stroke, the leading cause of death and long term disability in the United States according to the American Stroke Association. On average a stroke occurs every 40 seconds. You could save a life if you know the signs and symptoms of a stroke. Look for these signs:
Face Droop
Arm Weakness
Speech Difficulty
Other symptoms include weakness of the leg, sudden confusion or trouble understanding, sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes, sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss or balance or loss of coordination and/or sudden severe headache with no known cause. If you, or someone you know experiences one of these signs, call 911 immediately.
