Registration open for youth baseball

Kids 7 to 12 can hit it out of the park this spring by registering for the city's youth baseball program. Free clinics will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. throughout February and will focus on the fundamentals of baseball, teamwork and self-confidence while having fun in a safe, friendly environment. In March, there will be a team draft followed by the season, which begins at the end of the month. Registration for the league is $40. Clinics, practices and games will be held at Derbyshire Sports Complex, 849 Derbyshire Road and Bethune Point Park, 11 Bellevue Ave.

Team drafts will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. March 11 through 13, beginning with youth ages 7 & 8 Monday, March 11. Youth ages 9 & 10 will be Tuesday, March 12, and youth ages 11 & 12 will be Wednesday, March 13. Practices will begin at 5:30 p.m.Thursday, March 14 and will run throughout the month. Youth 6 to 8 can take a swing at the city's T-ball League this spring. Free clinics will be offered throughout the month of February at Derbyshire Sports Complex and Bethune Point Park. Following the free clinics, the T-Ball practices will begin March 14 and the season will run from April 1 through May 4. Registration is open through March 23, and the fee is $40 for the season.
