Beachside Access

All bridges are closed at this time. The bridges closed when the sustained wind speed reached 39 mph. They will reopen after the Florida Department of Transportation inspects them and determines they are structurally safe. The City of Daytona Beach does not issue passes for re-entry to the beachside. Typically what happens is people show their driver’s license or other form of photo ID that shows they live in the area they are trying to access. People needing to go to their place of employment, will need to show ID and/or something from their workplace, which verifies their place of employment.

Citizen Hotline

Residents with questions about Hurricane Ian can call the city’s Citizen Hotline daily until further notice. The number to call is (386) 671-5555.

City Hall, Community Centers and Facilities

Daytona Beach City Hall, community centers and facilities are closed for the remainder of the week due to the storm. City facilities will reopen Monday, Oct. 3. City emergency and public safety staff are continuing to provide essential services. The city’s emergency operations center has been activated. People are encouraged to sign up for city emergency notifications.

County Updates - Curfew, Shelters

Volusia County is posting updates on closures in the county, a curfew, shelters and more online at www.Volusia.org/PIN

  • Curfew: There is a countywide curfew through 7 a.m. Friday. Note, this does not apply to regular members of law enforcement bodies, regular employees of business, industries or government entities while traveling from their jobs and all emergency workers.
  • Shelters: Shelters remain open. On the east side of the county, a general population shelter is at Mainland High School. For those persons with special needs, a shelter is open at Atlantic High School. Both shelters are pet friendly.

Daytona Beach Bandshell

Events at the Daytona Beach Bandshell have been canceled through the weekend due to the storm. Stay up-to-date with events at the Bandshell at www.DaytonaBandshell.com.

Daytona Beach Pier

The Daytona Beach Pier is closed until further notice.

Utilities

It is important to limit nonessential use of water during the storm to help prevent backups and overflows. Nonessential use includes washing clothes and dishes and prolonged showers. The city’s water treatment plants are fully staffed; however, heavy rainfall can inundate the system, and in the event of power outages, lift stations will also be without power or running at a limited capacity. Lift stations help move wastewater through the sewer system to water treatment facilities. Once power is restored to your home, please continue to limit water use for a few extra days as city crews begin to assess impacts to the water and wastewater system.

Yard and Garbage Collection

Residential and commercial garbage collections have been suspended for Thursday and Friday. Residents are encouraged to bring their garbage cans and recycling bins inside their garage or secured for the duration of the storm. Normal collections are expected to resume Monday.
