The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) is asking for the public’s help in locating two people who were involved in a fatal hit and run crash last night (June 1, 2022) on South Nova Road near Bellevue Avenue.
Officers went to the scene following a 911 call which came into the Volusia County emergency dispatch center at 10:45 p.m. Upon arrival, those officers found the victim – 24-year-old Q’ueshawn Emmanuel Jones – lying on the side of the road. Jones was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics.
Traffic homicide investigators believe Jones was walking west on Nova crossing the Bellevue intersection when a dark-colored 4-door vehicle heading north on Nova struck him and then left without anyone inside the car trying to help him. The 911 call came from a passerby who spotted Jones on the side of the road after the vehicle which hit him had left the scene.
The vehicle involved may be a grey or dark gray BMW sedan with heavy damage to its front end, including a shattered front windshield. Investigators believe a male was driving and a female was in the passenger seat.
Photos of the two people we’re looking to speak to about this matter are posted on our social media accounts. We’ve also posted a picture of the vehicle we believe was involved.
Anyone with information about this matter is urged to contact Officer Ashley Rossi [(386) 671-5366 / RossiAshley@DBPD.us] or Officer Henry Fulcher [(386-671-5372 / FulcherHenry@DBPD.us] regarding Case 220009571.
