Summer can be an idle time for many youth. In an effort to keep kids active and engaged in healthy activities during the summer months, Daytona Beach City Manager Deric C. Feacher is launching a new initiative to bring city recreation programs into underserved neighborhoods where youth ages 5 to 15 live. The free, mini-camp program is called Summer Fun on the Run and the first offering will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Daytona Beach Gardens Apartments at 437 Jean St. Fun activities will be coordinated by city camp counselor including arts and crafts, basketball skills and drills, music and dancing. Hotdogs and drinks will be provided.
