Summer time can be ideal time for many youth. In an effort to keep kids active and engaged in healthy activities during the summer months, Daytona Beach City Manager Deric C. Feacher is launching a new initiative to bring city recreation programs into underserved neighborhoods where youth ages 5 to 15 live. The free, mini-camp program is called Summer Fun on the Run and the first offering will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Daytona Beach Gardens Apartments at 437 Jean St. The following activities will be offered by city staff: arts and crafts, basketball lessons and music and dancing. Hotdogs and drinks will be provided. Summer Fun on the Run will also be offered in July at other locations in Daytona Beach.
