The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) has arrested a 19-year-old Daytona Beach woman for shooting two men at a riverside apartment complex during a fight with another woman.
Jayla Monet Fisher was taken into custody at her Acklins Circle residence around an hour after shots were fired in a parking lot at the Tzadik Bay Apartments on 1215 South Beach Street.
DBPD responded to the scene soon after the call for help came into Volusia County’s emergency dispatch center at 8:58 a.m. today (April 14, 2022).
Detectives with DBPD’s Criminal Investigations Division are still working on establishing the motive for the argument between Fisher and the other woman. Preliminary investigation shows that the dispute turned physical between the women and that Fisher retrieved a gun during the fight and fired it several times at the other woman. Fisher fled the scene before police arrived.
The other woman – a 20-year-old Volusia County resident – was not struck by any of those bullets, but they did strike two men.
One of those men – a 19-year-old Volusia County resident – was in the parking lot observing the fight but wasn’t directly involved. He was shot in the arm and left the scene on his own to get treatment at Halifax Health Medical Center (HHMC). His condition is not life-threatening.
The other victim is a 78-year-old man who lives at the apartment complex and also wasn’t directly involved. He was in his residence when one of the bullets went through a glass window and struck him on the side of his upper torso. Paramedics transported him from the scene to HHMC for treatment. His condition is also not life-threatening.
Fisher is facing two felony charges of aggravated battery and one misdemeanor charge of simple battery. She will be booked at Volusia County Jail later today.
