The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) makes an arrest in the murders of a married couple who were found dead four days ago as they were heading home from Bike Week festivities on Main Street.
32-year-old Jean Robert Macean – a resident of Orlando – was captured at 5316 Point Vista Circle in Orlando around 11:00 a.m. today (March 10, 2022) by a task force comprised of members of the United States Marshals Service, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Orlando Police Department.
“This was one of the most brutal murders I’ve ever seen in my 20-plus year as a police officer in Daytona Beach,” stated Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young. “We want to thank the entire Daytona Beach community and the communities around us for providing our detectives with over 100 tips. We appreciate that level of cooperation in such a serious matter.”
48-year-old Terry Aultman and 55-year-old Brenda Aultman – both residents of Daytona Beach – were discovered dead just before 2:00 a.m. last Sunday (March 6, 2022) near the intersection of North Wild Olive Avenue and Riverview Boulevard. The Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office has since ruled their deaths a homicide.
“I thank our law enforcement partners for working with us to bring this man into custody,” Young added. “I have full confidence that the justice system will do its job. I hope that this will help all of Terry’s and Brenda’s family, friends and loved ones cope with their senseless loss.”
The arrest comes less than 24 hours after DBPD posted a $50,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in the Aultman murders. Investigators are still sorting through the tips received and a determination on the reward money will be made once that process is complete.
Macean is now facing two counts of first-degree murder. He will be booked at the Orange County Jail prior to his extradition to Volusia County.
Investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind these murders.
