[ARCHIVED] Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts expected for 10-day event

Bike Week in Daytona Beach, March 4-13

Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts are expected for the 81st anniversary of Bike Week that officially starts Friday and continues through Sunday, March 13.

We expect large crowds near the Daytona International Speedway, Main Street, Beach Street and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard. Motorists need to be on the lookout for motorcyclists, give them extra space, don’t cut them off and look twice, save a life.

This year traffic will be restricted again to only motorcycles on Main Street from Peninsula Drive to Atlantic Avenue during the 10-day event. Other motorists must use the side roadways or receive special permission to access the area. For tips on traveling in Daytona Beach during Bike Week, visit the Police Department’s website at

During Bike Week, Police Department personnel will be focused on the safety of residents and visitors. They will utilize drones to monitor Main Street and other large Bike Week areas to limit sending officers into crowds. They will be fully staffed and ready to handle situations that arise.

The Fire Department will have their motor medics on the roadways during Bike Week. This special team, which was the first in the nation, carries advanced lifesaving equipment and are able to access congested areas that are difficult for fire engines to enter.
