A 32-year-old man and 29-year-old woman are both behind bars after members of the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) discovered an illegal drug operation inside their Daytona Beach home.
Keldron L. Waddy and Johnneia J. Marimon each face numerous drug-related charges – including trafficking – following the raid at 6 Bishop Butts Circle.
“Our officers did great work bringing these two into custody,” stated Captain Scott Lee of DBPD’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit. “We found three different kinds of illegal drugs in the home and evidence that they were using the home to help them sell drugs on the street.”
Members of DBPD’s Special Weapons & Tactics (SWAT) Unit went into the home around 5:44 p.m. yesterday (January 26, 2022) to execute a probable cause search warrant signed by a Volusia County judge.
Waddy and Marimon were both found in the home by SWAT officers.
A search of their persons, the home and a passenger vehicle found on the property turned up 553 grams of cannabis, 6.1 grams of morphine and 1.5 grams of fentanyl along with drug paraphernalia, materials used for drug distribution and packaging, hundreds of dollars in cash and three cell phones in Waddy’s physical possession.
POP members also discovered that Waddy was in violation of a no-contact order signed by a Seminole County (Florida) judge last December. That order was handed down after he was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm by the Sanford Police Department last September for shooting Marimon in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
The no-contact order specified that Waddy was to have no contact with Marimon after his release from Seminole County Jail, but the POP Unit discovered that Waddy – who is designated as a Florida Career Offender and is required by Florida law to report his address – was living with Marimon inside the Bishop Butts home. He had registered that address as his living address with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office soon after leaving Seminole County Jail.
Both are booked into Volusia County Jail on felony charges of trafficking in morphine and unlawful possession of cannabis/fentanyl with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a place of worship.
Waddy is additionally charged with failure to properly register as a career offender, violating his pre-trial release/no-contact order and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon after detectives found 12 .380 caliber bullets inside a clear sandwich bag while searching the kitchen.
Marimon is also facing a misdemeanor charge of providing a false statement to police while harboring a career offender.
