In coordination with the family of fallen Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) Officer Jason Raynor, a wreath-laying service will be held where respects will be paid to Officer Raynor in honor of his ultimate sacrifice.
It will take place August 19, 2021 (Thursday) at 11:00 a.m. Eastern outside of the front lobby of DBPD headquarters (129 Valor Boulevard).
This will be a brief service led by DBPD Chief Jakari Young. Members of the Raynor family are not expected to be in attendance, but officers and other DBPD personnel will take part. The public is also invited to attend.
The patrol car normally used by Officer Raynor will be parked in front of the brick wall outside of the front lobby. This will serve as the anchor for where the public can leave any mementos they wish in Officer Raynor’s honor.
During the service, a wreath will be laid at the memorial site in honor of Officer Raynor. There will also be a photo of Officer Raynor on display.
Those who cannot attend the service are encouraged to visit the memorial site anytime as their schedule permits to leave mementos or to reflect. We will post video of the service later on that day on our social media platforms.
We also encourage those who are so inclined to create a private video message for Officer Raynor’s family. We ask that those videos be sent via direct message to DBPD’s Facebook inbox and we will deliver those messages to the family. Please submit them by 9 a.m. Monday (August 23, 2021).
More public events featuring Officer Raynor are planned over the next five days, including a viewing and a funeral. We will release those details once they are finalized on our social media platforms and the DBPD smartphone app.
