[ARCHIVED] Special Election for Zone 2

Special Election graphic

Due to Commissioner Aaron Delgado’s resignation, the city’s Charter requires a special election to fill the vacated seat in Zone 2. On August 4, 2021, Daytona Beach's City Commission approved an ordinance calling the Special Municipal Election.

The City Clerk is the designated qualifying official for city elections. Potential candidates, who must reside in Zone 2 for at least six months prior to the first day of the qualification period, should contact City Clerk Letitia LaMagna by calling (386) 671-8023. An appointment will be scheduled to review the requirements and necessary paperwork to run for the seat.

Visit this webpage for a list of qualified candidates, election schedule, campaign reports, sign regulations and Campaign Treasurer Reports.

Important Dates

  • Special Primary Election – Sept. 21, 2021
  • Voter Registration Deadline for Special General Election – Oct. 4, 2021
  • Special General Election – Nov. 2, 2021

Voter Information

To vote by mail, requests can be made in person, by phone, by mail or online to:

Supervisor of Elections
1750 S. Woodland Blvd.,
DeLand FL 32720
(386)736-5930
www.volusiaelections.org

The polls will be open Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the following locations:

  • Precinct #607 – Schnebly Recreation Center, 1101 N. Atlantic Ave.
  • Precinct #619 – Allen Chapel AME Church, 580 George W. Engram Blvd.

Only registered voters in Zone 2 will be able to cast a ballot.

Voters are required to provide a current and valid photo and signature identification when voting in person, and must vote in their assigned location.

Voters that have a voted vote-by-mail ballot must return it to the Supervisor of Elections office by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. Due to legislative changes with Senate Bill 90, the 24-hour drop box that was outside the Supervisor of Elections office has been removed. Voters may still drop off voted vote-by-mail ballots to the drop box located inside at the front counter during office hours, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Election Day, the office will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voted vote-by-mail ballots cannot be dropped off at polling locations on Election Day. Voters have the option to surrender their vote-by-mail ballot and vote in person at their assigned polling location.

Election night results will begin scrolling online after 7 p.m. These results are unofficial, until the Canvassing Board certifies the election. These results can be found at www.VolusiaElections.org

For more information, visit www.VousiaElections.org or call (386) 736- 5930.
