City commissioners met Wednesday, June 30, to discuss how the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds should be used. The city will receive $15 million in two equal payments. The first payment was issued in June 2021, while the second will be released in the first quarter of 2022.
The Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds provide substantial flexibility for each government to meet local needs—including support for households, small businesses, impacted industries, essential workers and the communities hardest hit by the crisis. The funds can also be used to make necessary investments in water, sewer and broadband infrastructure. For a general reference on the ways the funding can be used, visit this webpage.
Staff's presentation for the commissioners' workshop is available.
There will be three community listening sessions:
- July 13 - Midtown Cultural and Educational Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd.
- July 14 - Schnebly Center, 1101 N. Atlantic Ave.
- July 15 - Police Department Headquarters, 129 Valor Blvd.
Listening sessions will begin at 6 p.m.
