Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine is available to people 65 years and older on a first-come, first-served basis at a drive-through event on Jan. 4 and 5 at Daytona Stadium, 3917 LPGA Blvd. in Daytona Beach. Gates will open at 5 a.m. and will close once vaccine allocations are reached. Attendees can expect to wait for hours to receive the shot. The vaccines are provided by the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County (DOH-Volusia) in partnership with the City of Daytona Beach.
Please note while this is the first vaccine distribution event in Volusia County, it won’t be the last. We have been ensured by our partners at the Florida Department of Health-Volusia there will be additional public vaccination sites across Volusia County as more vaccines become available over the days and weeks ahead. Sites will rotate through areas on both sides of Volusia County to improve access for everyone.
Vaccinations will be offered at no cost and photo IDs will be required. After receiving a vaccination, recipients will be required to remain on site for 15-30 minutes for medical monitoring.
Only the Moderna vaccine will be provided at this initial community vaccination event. Prior to receiving a vaccination, individuals will receive the Moderna Fact Sheet on the Emergency Use Authorization and information on what to expect during and after the injection. Individuals also will be required to complete a medical screening form and sign an informed consent form before receiving a vaccination.
Individuals are encouraged to contact their primary care provider with questions about whether they should receive the vaccine before presenting to a vaccination site.
Each person will receive a 2nd dose reminder card that lists the date and the manufacturer for the first vaccination. The Moderna booster vaccination should be received 28 days after the initial dose. The second dose must be from the same manufacturer as the first vaccine.
DOH-Volusia will return to this location in 28 days to offer the second dose to those who are due. Future vaccination dates in several locations across the county will be based on vaccine availability. Information also will be posted online at www.volusia.org/coronavirus.

With high demand anticipated for Volusia County’s first COVID-19 vaccination distribution event at Daytona Stadium next week, the
Daytona Beach Police Department
has developed a comprehensive traffic plan for safety and efficiency purposes. There will be electronic message boards strategically placed along LPGA Blvd. alerting and directing motorists on where to go.
People 65 years and older will be directed to enter through the north entrance of Daytona Stadium, located at 3917 LPGA Blvd. Gates will open at approximately 7 a.m. and vehicles will be queued in the parking areas. There is ample capacity at the stadium’s 64-acre site to que hundreds of vehicles. Drive through vaccinations will begin at 9 a.m.
Personnel stationed at the facility’s north entrance will count the number of people accessing the facility, and once the number of people seeking vaccines meets the allocated quantity, gates will close and the message boards’ announcements will reflect the closure for people who aren’t inside the facility.
Restrooms on the north side of the stadium will be available for use and two handicapped porta potties will be onsite.
