The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) is recruiting volunteers to join their Citizens on Patrol (COP) program, a volunteer service where residents perform crime watch activities, alert the police department of hazardous and unlawful behavior and provide assistance to police officers when requested.
The volunteer program trains civilians to assist the DBPD as an extra set of eyes and ears in the fight against crime in and around Daytona Beach. By their visibility, the citizen patrols serve as a strong deterrent to unlawful actions. In the many areas in which COP patrols are visible, there have been a noticeable reduction in crime rates.
This working relationship between our COP members and our police officers contributes to enhance the quality of life in Daytona Beach.
