Hostage Negotiation Team

The Hostage Negotiation Team was formed in 1990 after several officers completed basic and advanced courses of hostage negotiation techniques.

Since then, the team is available to respond to crisis calls at any time, including those involving barricaded suspects, hostages and suicidal persons.

Goal

To secure the release of hostages, surrender of hostage takers and barricaded suspects as well as to convince potentially suicidal persons to surrender to treatment as opposed to inflicting injury upon themselves or others.

Who Makes The Team

Officers are selected from a pool of volunteers. They undergo constant training to update their knowledge and skills in this ever-changing field.

Team Vehicle

A 40-foot Mobile Command Post is utilized when necessary.
