Flood Mitigation Project
The City of Daytona Beach will allocate $15 million to a phased flood control project which will relieve flooding in prone neighborhoods. Currently, the project area is susceptible to flooding because of its naturally occurring “bowl-shaped” topography.

The project will create a drainage conveyance system in the Fairway Estates/Woodcliff Estates area that moves stormwater to a pond, or a series of ponds, and install a large pump station to pump stormwater to the Halifax River through a newly built outfall.  By controlling floodwaters, overflow and mixing of sanitary sewer with the stormwater will not ultimately discharge to the Halifax River.
