City hosts community cleanups

The City of Daytona Beach is hosting a series of community cleanups from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays in neighborhoods throughout the city. Residents are invited to join city staff to pick up litter and dispose of unwanted items during the cleanups. The city’s waste hauler will provide curbside pickup of bulk items including appliances, car parts, mattresses, furniture, carpeting, etc., with a limit of five cubic yards per property. Five cubic yards is approximately 4 foot x 4 foot x 8 eight or roughly the size of a pickup truck load. Volunteers are also encouraged to participate in the community cleanup and can sign up online. Trash bags, supplies and gloves will be provided.

Dates and locations of the cleanups are: 

Zone 6 – Saturday, May 25
Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m.  at the southwest corner of Garden Street and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard. Volunteers will pick up litter in neighborhoods near Oak Street, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, Lincoln Street and Keech Street. Volunteers can sign up online at volunteersignup.org/DWD7J.

Zone 5 – Saturday, June 1
Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at 1320 Mason Avenue. Volunteers will pick up litter in neighborhoods near Mason Avenue, Peachtree Avenue, Redwood Street and Hollywood Avenue. Volunteers can sign up online at volunteersignup.org/B3PWW.

Zone 1 – Saturday, June 8
Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. in a vacant lot at Terrance Avenue and South Street. Volunteers will pick up litter in neighborhoods near Bellevue Avenue, South Street, Nova Road and Owasso Street. Volunteers can sign up online at volunteersignup.org/QMKXB.
