My name is Craig Capri and I am honored to lead the Daytona Beach Police Department in its responsibility for the safety of this great city.
On January 11, 2017, I was sworn in as the 17th Police Chief for the City of Daytona Beach. I have been a dedicated member to this organization since January 1990. I am honored to witness that same dedication and commitment in the 200+ sworn men and women of this department. They work diligently to protect and serve the residents, visitors, and businesses of Daytona Beach.
The City of Daytona Beach is unique as it serves as the backdrop to several special events annually. During those times, the population can peak to over 500,000 visitors. The members of this department are dedicated to meet these challenges with professionalism and courtesy to ensure that both residents and visitors enjoy their time here.
This organization shows its commitment to the community by ensuring that our residents and visitors are always safe. This is achieved by utilizing the latest technology for crime reduction, a rigorous training program for our officers and community engagement with families and businesses.
Connecting with our citizens through positive outreach programs is our never-ending goal because we can't do it alone. Reaching out to our citizens has become just as important as fighting crime. We need our residents' assistance in the daily fight against crime. As a result, we have established several Community Events to assist with creating positive interactions within our city to promote uniting our department with our residents.
Our officers and civilian employees work in a myriad of units and divisions that make up our agency. These included the Real Time Crime Center, SWAT, Motors Unit, K-9, Problem Oriented Policing, Support Services, Patrol, School Resource Officers, UAS Aviation Unit and the Criminal Investigations Division.
It has been my privilege to have worked in many of the divisions and units during my career with the Daytona Beach Police Department. The knowledge and experience has allowed me the opportunity to rise through the ranks during my career.
It is my honor to stand with the finest team of police officers in the country. All of our efforts are aimed at making Daytona Beach a better and safer place for those who live, work and visit our city.
